Guided Meditation is a technique using imagery, focused attention, mindfulness and deep breathing to transition the body from a state of stress to one of relaxation.

Relaxation as opposed to distraction is the key to balance and improved health.  When the body is relaxed it transitions from a state of stress to one of relaxation – a place where self-healing can begin.

During times of stress, you may have noticed that it is hard to take in a deep breath.  When we are stressed we often breath rapidly and shallowly – better known as chest breathing.  Chest breathing can deprive our body of oxygen. Lowered oxygen levels can cause:
– tiredness
– depression
– irritability
– poor judgement
– health problems

The deep breathing techniques learned and practiced in meditation help to relax the body.  When we relax we are able to breath slowly and deeply.  Breathing slowly and deeply is termed belly breathing.  When we belly breath we are helping to oxygenate the body which can lead to:
– increased alertness
– improved reflex response time
– improved memory
– enhanced intelligence

Guided meditation is a wonderful addition to any wellness regime to maintain and support health and well-being.

This group guided meditation is a perfect introduction for those who are new to meditation, for those who meditate on a regular basis and for those who are simply curious about meditation and want to try something new.

With respect to meditation, I believe we will experience what we are meant to experience. There is no right or wrong. Every experience is personal, every experience is unique and every experience is healing.
