Butterfly and Transformation
The butterfly is a symbol of transformation. It is highly sensitive to its environment and floats with the greatest of ease where ever the wind takes it.
Butterfly can teach you the value of going with the flow, instead of getting stuck in the moment. So, you can move past that which no longer serves you through release and renewal.
You are an Emotional Being!
Floating with ease and grace in not always easy when you interact with the world in a physical body which reacts to sensory cues before the brain has time to consider the reaction.
Your body’s reaction to each situation you encounter is based on the stories, the memories, you have kept.
All memories are stored in two separate components – an emotional component and a factual component.
How Stories become Hardwired
You get home from a hard day at work and start to think about a situation that happened earlier in the day.
Thinking about the situation causes the memory to be retrieved. The emotions are felt by the body and the facts are analyzed by the mind.
Once retrieved you have a choice. You can acknowledge and release the emotion or you can store it again.
Releasing the emotion as opposed to creating a continual loop of retrieval and storage helps you to regain energetic balance – inner peace and calm. A place where self-healing can begin.
Your ability to release is the key to transformation and renewal. The way of the butterfly.
Release is not Easy
To release an emotion, you must sit with it. The emotion must be felt, acknowledged and released.
Understandibly, it can be quite uncomfortable to sit with your emotion.
Sitting with your emotion so it can be released is the premise on which meditation is built and the reason why meditation can be difficult.
Meditation is not for everyone. Infact, depending on the situation which lead to the emotion being held, meditation may not be the safest or wisest choice. Instead, you should seek the support of a qualified Medical Professional to walk you through the release.
